German police confirmed the patient had shot at the doctor before killing himself after German newspaper Bild reported the attack. | |
Police said shots were fired around 1pm local time at the Benjamin Franklin campus of the Charite university hospital in the southwestern neighbourhood of Steglitz. | |
Police said the doctor was seriously injured in the attack and is in intensive care. | |
They also said there were "no signs at all" the shooting was linked to terrorism. | |
The shooting follows four other attacks in Germany since 18 July that have left 10 people dead and dozens injured. | |
