1915: Steven Gerrard is handed England's first chance on a plate from an underhit backpass, but the Liverpool midfielder's first-time shot is weak and Henk Timmer gets enough on it to deflect it wide. 1927: Clarence Seedorf and Rafael van der Vaart combine well around England's box, but the latter cannot direct his volley on target.
1927: There are 34,000 people packed into Lansdowne Road for the Republic's game - that's 10,000 more than actually live in San Marino.
1925: The Dutch get behind the England backline but Dirk Kuyt is beaten to the ball by Paul Robinson.
1923: In that game Alan Shearer put England ahead on 22 minutes. We almost get a repeat when Joe Cole combines well with Frank Lampard but his control again lets him down and the shooting chance passes.
1922: England coaching team Steve McClaren and Terry Venables consult on the touchline. It's not been a good start for England and certainly far from the performance 10 years ago when Venables' side tore Holland apart 4-1.
1921: It is just under 10 minutes to kick-off at Lansdowne Road and the rain is lashing it down.
1920: Frank Lampard almost latches onto a hopeful long ball but he is unable to control it with an outstretched first touch.
1918: At the other end Steven Gerrard loses Urby Emanuelson and England are fortunate that Urby Emanuelson's cross is close enough for Paul Robinson to gather.
1915: Steven Gerrard is handed England's first chance on a plate from Khalid Boulahrouz's underhit backpass, but the Liverpool midfielder's first-time shot is weak and Henk Timmer gets enough on it to deflect it wide.
1912: Arjen Robben twists and turns his way past Micah Richards before driving a shot which Paul Robinson does well to keep out. Wigan's Denny Landzaat has an even better chance but he puts his header wide.1912: Arjen Robben twists and turns his way past Micah Richards before driving a shot which Paul Robinson does well to keep out. 1911: The first attempt on goal comes from a back header by John Terry, fortunately Paul Robinson is alert enough to save comfortably. The news is not so good for Terry who hobbles off the pitch after seemingly landing badly.1911: The first attempt on goal comes from a back header by John Terry, fortunately Paul Robinson is alert enough to save comfortably. 1909: England are defending deep, with Andy Johnson virtually at right-back when Holland have the ball. Rio Ferdinand gains posession and looks to hit a long ball down the right for Johnson. He's quick, but that's asking a lot of the Everton star.1909: England are defending deep, with Andy Johnson virtually at right-back when Holland have the ball. 1907: Holland have made the brighter start. Clarence Seedorf, who is back in Marco van Basten's goodbooks and back in the starting line-up, slips in the box having established a promising position.1907: Holland have made the brighter start. 1904: It looks like England are playing in more of a 4-3-3 formation with Joe Cole playing further upfield and Andy Johnson down the right channel. Shades of Villa Park.1904: It looks like England are playing in more of a 4-3-3 formation with Joe Cole playing further upfield and Andy Johnson down the right channel. Shades of Villa Park.

1859: There are a few empty seats in the stadium. Perhaps the Dutch fans remember the last time the two sides met: a 0-0 not-much-of-a-thriller at Villa Park in 2005.1859: There are a few empty seats in the stadium.
