A suicide attacker rammed a car bomb into the gates of the headquarters of Somalia's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Mogadishu before gunmen stormed the building. At least seven pepole have been killed including two attackers in an assault on Somalia's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), police have said.
"It is too early to tell the number of casualties," Osman Mohamed, a police officer, said. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility after a suicide attacker rammed a car bomb into the gates of the CID headquarters in Mogadishu before gunmen stormed the building.
"We have confirmed seven dead including civilians and two militants," Ali Mohamed, a police officer, told Reuters.
He said police had killed two gunmen who stormed into the building in the capital after two car bombs exploded outside.

"A fighter rammed a suicide car bomb into CID then other armed fighters stormed inside. We are now fighting inside the CID building," Abdiasis Abu Musab, al-Shabaab's military operations spokesman, told Reuters.
Earlier this week, the Islamist group claimed responsibility for an attack on a hotel near Mogadishu's International Airport, which left at least 13 people dead.
Al-Shabaab, which is fighting an insurgency aiming to topple Somalia's government, was driven out of Mogadishu by the African Union force Amisom in 2011, and was ousted from strongholds elsewhere in the south last year.
