A gunman reportedly covered in blood has barricaded himself in a restaurant in the western city of Saarbruecken, Germany. An injured man who barricaded himself in a restaurant in the western German city of Saarbruecken was later found asleep in the basement and detained, police said.
Police said the man has no hostages and there are no suggestions the incident is related to terrorism. Saarbruecken police also said the 43-year-old man, who was not identified, didn't have a weapon as authorities had initially reported. 
Officers are trying to negotiate with the armed man to convince him to end the standoff. Police spokesman Kurt Schwindling told AP that the man, a relative of the restaurant owner, had initially entered the place, screamed at security staff and sent them outside.
The man reportedly entered the restaurant called Dubrovnik and told everyone to leave, German newspaper Bild reports. Mr Schwindling said the man was probably suffering from psychological problems. 
Police spokesman Kurt Schwindling told AP the man, a relative of the restaurant owner, had entered the restaurant on Sunday morning and sent all the cleaning staff outside. It was not immediately clear why the man was injured.
Mr Schwindling said the man, who was not further identified, was probably suffering from psychological problems. Police did not know exactly what kind of weapon he had.  Germany has been on edge after several attacks in the last month.
