Man, 21, dies after being struck by Chelmsford bus

A pedestrian has been killed after he was hit by a bus.

The 21-year-old was declared dead at the scene after the crash involving an out-of-service bus on the Great Baddow bypass in Chelmsford, Essex.

First Bus said the accident happened at about 05:00 and the driver, who was left "shaken", was treated in hospital for shock and discharged.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours. First Bus said it was assisting police with inquiries.
