A man has been arrested after a four-hour armed siege in Suffolk.

Armed police were called after the man barricaded himself inside a flat on the corner of Norwich Road and Bramford Road in Ipswich, on Tuesday night.

Police negotiators worked throughout the night and officers finally gained entry to the flat at about 2300 BST.

A 39-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of threatening to kill and is being questioned at Ipswich police station.

A cordon, which was put in place around Bramford Road, has been lifted and residents have returned home after nearby homes were evacuated by police.
