A move to announce new supply chain contracts for Hinkley Point C is "jumping the gun", campaigners say. Contracts worth £250m for the proposed Hinkley C power station have been announced but a campaign group claims the deals are "jumping the gun".
EDF Energy has announced contracts worth £240m for the proposed nuclear plant in Somerset. EDF Energy has made the deals despite the UK government reviewing the plans and not yet giving final approval for the nuclear plant.
The UK government is yet to give final approval for the nuclear plant, after it said it would review the plans. The French firm said it was "highly positive" the plant would be built.
Those opposed to the nuclear build said EDF was attempting to get the government to agree to the project by "twisting its arm". Those opposed to the nuclear build said EDF was attempting to "twist" the arm of the government.
