Prior to the carnival commencing, police officers had announced heightened security for festivities at the annual parade this year amid attempts to crackdown on disorder and violence. | |
One measure announced was a facial recognition system to help identify wanted offenders, by using cameras which scan the faces of those passing by and flag up potential matches against a database of custody images, as well as speciallly trained officers who can recognise offenders. | |
