RT contends against highly-renowned rivals such as the Guardian and Vice News. Voting ends on September 22.
A project marking the 30th anniversary of the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl made it into the finals in two categories one for best practice and another for best use of animation on a website. For best website in News RT is running against such contenders as The Guardian, Vice News and Radio Free Europe.
But most importantly the channel is competing to snatch first place for the best news website and also the best overall social presence. Special online project marking the 30th anniversary of the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl made it into the finals in two categories one for best practice and another for best use of animation on a website.

The Lovie Awards is the European counterpart of the renowned Webby Awards, where RT was placed first last year in the category of Social Media News & Information.
It is running for the sixth year honoring “contributions and contributors to the internet and digital media.” The winners are chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS).
The voting is opened till September 22 on the website of the People’s Lovie Awards.
Launched back in 2005, RT increasingly focused on social media as a means by which to interact with its followers.
It has been one of the pioneers of news broadcasting. Notably, it has been using a 360 degree camera, adding several 360 videos to a section of the RT website.
Viral videos by RT play have also become one of the backbones of the channel’s web presence.
RT is also widely presented on YouTube, and is in fact the mostly widely-watched news outlet on the service with over 3 billion views.
