Linden is close to the city of Elizabeth, where further devices were found late on Sunday. Footage showed him apparently conscious on a stretcher. Two police officers were injured in the exchange.
The 28-year-old Afghan-born US citizen had been named by the FBI as a suspect in Saturday's bombing in Manhattan. which injured 29 people. Linden is four miles (6.4km) south-west of the city of Elizabeth, where further devices were found late on Sunday.
