Group jailed for Moscow bombing

A Moscow court has sentenced eight men to prison terms ranging from two years to life for the bombing of a market in the city that killed 14 people in 2006.

Investigators established that the defendants were members of an anti-immigration group called "Salvation", Russian media say.

Many of the traders at the Cherkizovsky market were Chinese or Vietnamese.

The eight were charged with terrorism and explosives offences. One was also found guilty of murdering an Armenian.

More than 40 people were injured in the Cherkizovsky market blast on 21 August 2006. The blast ripped through a two-storey trading arcade.
