Together, in Med School

To the Editor: Re “Free Students From the Grading Curve Trap,” by Adam Grant (Sunday Review, Sept. 11): As a medical student from 1964 to 1968, I experienced an exceptionally rigorous curriculum but also an equally cohesive student body, collaborating with the professors. We had a classwide system of note taking that was student-edited and given to the professors for “proof reading.” The final edited version was then typed, duplicated (mimeographed) and distributed to class members. We all had “skin in the game” with the goal to learn through a collaborative effort. It worked! BERNARD S. SOBEL Norristown, Pa.
