Both children were airlifted to a pediatric trauma center in Greenville, South Carolina. The teacher, a woman, was taken to a hospital in Anderson County. One boy and the teacher, a woman, are hospitalized but in “good condition” at a local hospital, AnMed Health. A second child was airlifted to a trauma center in Greenville. A sheriff’s deputy interviewed by WYFF, a local television station, said the school was searched and that officials felt there was no longer a threat. Children were evacuated via bus to a nearby Baptist church. The official said that deputies were “still trying to put together the facts”. Local law enforcement officers were first notified of a gunman at the elementary school at 1.44pm, according to the nearby Oconee County sheriff’s office. Police surrounded the building and could be seen on the roof. By 3pm, police had searched the building, arrested a suspect and felt there was no longer a threat.
