Version 1 of 6.

Dozens of people have been injured, four seriously, in an explosion near the southern Spanish city of Malaga, reports say.

The blast is said to have been caused by a gas cylinder in a cafe in the town of Velez-Malaga. One report said more than 70 people had been hurt.

Pictures from the scene show severe damage to a cafe and debris strewn across a street.

The blast is believed to have happened during a festival.

Police have sealed off the area, local media report.

Local newspaper La Opinion de Malaga reported (in Spanish) that the gas cylinder had exploded in a cafe called La Bohemia in the town centre.

It said the chef had run out of the kitchen and tried to raise the alarm moments before the blast.

The newspaper also reported that police cars helped ferry the injured to hospital because the local ambulance service was overwhelmed with casualties.
