Sydney man charged with murder after father allegedly stabbed during row over computer
Version 0 of 1. A Sydney man has been charged with murder after a heated dispute over the use of a computer allegedly ended with his father stabbed to death. Police were called to a home in the south-western suburb of Moorebank at 8.40pm on Sunday following reports of a man suffering stab wounds. Paramedics tried to save 56-year-old Stephen Chapman but he died on the way to hospital, police said. His 20-year-old son was arrested after he raced across the street, alerting neighbours, who then called the ambulance. Daniel Chapman did not appear at Parramatta bail court on Monday and bail was formally refused. Court documents alleged he murdered Stephen Chapman between 8.20pm and 8.30pm. The case returns to Campbelltown court on Wednesday. Police said the dispute unfolded over an argument about a computer. “I believe the son uses it [the computer] quite regularly and when he’s asked to come to the dinner table he continued on the computer,” Detective Chief Inspector Ken Hardie told reporters in Sydney on Monday. The victim’s wife was at home at the time of the attack but was not injured, Hardie said. |
