A baby boy has been killed and another child seriously injured after they were attacked by a dog in Colchester. | |
Emergency services were called to an address near the junction of Tara Close and Harwich Road on the at around 3:10pm on Thursday. | |
The dog attacked three people including the two children. | |
The wounded boy is being treated for injuries which have been described as "life-changing". | |
A woman has also been treated for minor injuries. | |
The dog has been removed from the property by Essex Police and an investigation into the incident is taking place. | |
Chief Inspector Elliot Judge said: "This is a tragic incident that Essex Police is investigating. | |
"Specially trained officers are providing support to the family at this difficult time. | |
"We will not be making any further statement at this time and would ask the media to respect the family’s privacy”. |
