Malcolm Turnbull's support lower than Tony Abbott's before ousting, Newspoll shows

Version 0 of 1. Voter support for Malcolm Turnbull has dropped below Tony Abbott’s last voter satisfaction reading before his ousting as prime minister in September last year. The Australian reports that the latest Newspoll survey shows the prime minister’s satisfaction rating sits at 29%, compared with Abbott’s last ranking as leader of 30%. The opposition leader Bill Shorten’s satisfaction rating was static at 36%. On a preferred prime minister basis Turnbull remains ahead, at 42% to Shorten’s 32%. Labor has maintained its lead over the Coalition for the third consecutive Newspoll, sitting at 52% compared with the government’s 48% on a two-party preferred basis. On a primary vote reading, the Coalition sits on 38%, Labor on 37%, the Greens on 10% and the independents on 14%. |
