With only 12 days left before Election Day, a new poll from the Associated Press puts Hillary Clinton's lead over Donald Trump in the double digits. With only 12 days to go in what has been a grueling election season in the United States, Hillary Clinton has taken a commanding double-digit lead over her opponent, Donald Trump, in a new poll from the Associated Press.
The AP/GfK poll shows that likely voters say they will choose Ms Clinton over Mr Trump, 51 to 37 – a whopping margin that indicates a high likelihood of major victory for the former Secretary of State.  The AP-GfK poll shows that likely voters say they will choose Ms Clinton over Mr Trump, 51 to 37 – a whopping margin that indicates a high likelihood of major victory for the former Secretary of State. 
More follows... Mr Trump has insisted that he is in the lead and that Clinton campaign chair John Podesta colluded with pollsters to paint a picture of an electoral map that favours Ms Clinton. 
"Wikileaks ... shows how John Podesta rigged the polls by oversampling Democrats, a voter suppression technique," he said. "And that's happening to me all the time. When the polls are even,  when they leave them alone and do them properly, I'm leading."
He repeated the claim in a Wednesday interview with CNN: "I actually think we're winning," he said. "I don’t even think it’s a question of we’re going to try and win. You start looking at the polls, what’s happening, and more importantly start looking at all the people going to vote and sending in their ballots. 
"We’re way ahead on virtually every state and every area, and I think we’re going to have a great victory."
But the window may have shut on a potential Trump victory as 37 states have already begun early voting. 
The AP Gfk poll found that Ms Clinton has strong support from her base, as some 90 per cent of likely Democratic voters will choose her. Mr Trump has only secured 79 per cent of likely Republican voters. 
Seventy-four per cent of likely voters, according to the poll, believe Ms Clinton will win the election.
