Version 0 of 1.

Three police officers have appeared in court charged with perjury in relation to the death of a man after his arrest.

West Midlands Police officers Paul Adey, 36, Mark Fannon, 45, and Paul Greenfield, 50, are also charged with perverting the course of justice.

They were bailed to appear at crown court on 28 November.

Kingsley Burrell, 29, of Birmingham, died in hospital after a cardiac arrest in March 2011. He had been detained under the Mental Health Act.

The charges are in connection with evidence given to Mr Burrell's inquest in May 2015, which ruled "prolonged restraint" and a delay in seeking basic medical help contributed to his death.

The three officers were not asked to enter pleas at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
