Ms Collier said: "I was in bed watching the election when I heard a big crash, which I though was the wind. The overturned tram remains on its side next to an underpass.

Transport for London said the derailed tram was made up of two carriages. and that it is working with the emergency services. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: "I am in contact with emergency services and Transport for London (TfL), who are working extremely hard to get the situation under control and treat those who have been injured.
Fire crews, British Transport Police and the London Ambulance Service are at the scene. "My thoughts are with all those involved in this incident."
