Would You Boycott a Company for Selling Trump Products?
Version 0 of 1. Social media users have found another way to protest Trump that don't involve retweeting unintentionally hilarious, albeit terrifying, things from the President-Elect: boycotting any retailer that carries Trump family brands. According to Racked, a fed up Shannon Coulter used Twitter in October to speak out about her frustration at shopping at places like Nordstrom that carry Trump family products. Many other women chimed in, and with another Twitter user, Sue Atencio, which Coulter met through the exchange, the two compiled a Google Doc list of retailers that sell anything labeled 'Trump' (Donald, Ivanka or both). The hashtag #GrabYourWallet referencing Trump's infamous "grab them by the pussy" line was coined, and users jumped on it. The hashtag and the list of stores to boycott has been shared thousands of times on social media, and include Trump-laden retailers like Amazon (AMZN) , Bloomingdales, Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) , TJ Maxx (TJX) and Wayfair (W) . In addition to the brand's names and the offending categories, the doc lists out the corporate HQ telephone number, email address or contact form, and PR info should you feel the need to tell each retailer how you really feel in the wake of the election. The next tab gives a list of Trump-free alternatives including brands like Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta and Old Navy family (GPS) , Gilt, Net-a-Porter, Ann Taylor (ANN) , Saks Fifth Avenue (SKS) and Tiffany & Co.
