The girl suffered serious crush injuries to her pelvis and legs and was taken to Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's hospital. A spokesman for Cheshire Police said the vehicle may have hit the girl as she sat on a pavement in Weston Point, Runcorn, on Saturday morning. The spokesman would not confirm if her injuries were life-threatening. A 44-year-old man who lives near the scene said: "My daughter heard a pop, which was quite loud, from a ball which had been crushed. "It happened so quickly nobody knows what happened. "The girl was nowhere near the road. She was on the grass next to the path on the corner of Baker Road and Allen Road," he added. Police have appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact them. |
