A 10-year-old girl is being treated in hospital after she was knocked down by a police van, Police Scotland has said. A 10-year-old girl is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after being knocked down by a police van in Moray.
The incident in Lossiemouth Road, Elgin, Moray, happened while the marked van was on a routine patrol at about 18:50 GMT, a force spokesman said. The incident happened in Lossiemouth Road, Elgin, near Gray's Walk, while the marked van was on a routine patrol at about 18:50, Police Scotland said.
The girl was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in the town for treatment to injuries which the spokesman said were not believed to be life threatening. The girl was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital before being airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The road has been closed while the crash is investigated. The girl's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
Sgt Rob Warnock said: "Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are at an early stage and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the police van or the female pedestrian immediately prior to the incident to contact Police Scotland on 101.''
