South Australian police have shot a man after he allegedly pointed a gun at the head of his three-year-old daughter during a confrontation with officers in central Adelaide. A man who was shot by police in Adelaide after allegedly pointing a gun at his three-year-old daughter has been charged over the incident.
The shooting ended an ordeal for a young mother, her daughter and seven-month-old son that began nearly three hours earlier when her partner allegedly assaulted her at the Cumberland Park home. The 26-year-old is likely to face a bedside court hearing at the Royal Adelaide Hospital on Tuesday after he allegedly threatened and abducted a young woman and their children, aged three and seven months.
The man, 26, is now in Royal Adelaide hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being shot once on Monday night. It’s alleged he also assaulted two other people who tried to help his 23-year-old partner. He has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, unlawful threats, acts to endanger life, using a firearm to commit an offence and dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit.
The shooting ended an ordeal that began nearly three hours earlier when the man allegedly assaulted the woman at a home in Cumberland Park.
