Thirty vehicles 'in major crash' Four injured in A20 fog collision

Emergency teams are dealing with a 30-vehicle crash on the A20 in Dover. Four people have been seriously injured and up to 10 vehicles were damaged in a crash in east Kent.
Fire crews from Folkestone, Dover and Ashford were called to the coastbound carriageway near the Roundhill Tunnels at Capel-le-Ferne just before 1320 BST. Emergency teams were called to the crash scene on the A20 at Capel-le-Ferne just before 1320 BST.
Firefighters are using hydraulic rescue equipment to free a man and a woman after what was a "major collision", a Kent Fire Service spokesman said. Two cars and two lorries believed to be foreign-registered were involved in the main crash, police said.
Police, air ambulance crews, and paramedics are also at the scene where the weather is "extremely foggy". Initial reports said 30 vehicles were involved, but Kent fire service said many people stopped at the scene and conditions were extremely foggy.
M20 closure A spokeswoman said: "Lots of vehicles had stopped and there was quite a lot of fog - it might not have been initially clear as to who was involved in the collision."
Kent Police said there were reports of people trapped in vehicles but no reports of fatalities. Kent Police said four people were taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford with serious injuries, which were not thought to be life-threatening.

The A20 is closed at Capel-le-Ferne to allow emergency vehicles to get to the scene. Officers said no further persons were trapped in vehicles at the scene near the Roundhill Tunnels.

Three fire engines from Folkestone, Dover and Ashford were sent to the scene and crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a man and a woman.
