Version 0 of 1.

Welcome to The Independent's Prime Minister's Questions liveblog for 7 December 2016. Here are the latest updates:

• British workers in poverty at record high • Lib Dems fined £20k over campaign spending • May accuses Iran of being aggressive • Green Party denies Lib Dem 'bribe'

With Theresa May in Bahrain attending the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Government will be representated at Prime Minister's Questions by David Lidington, the leader of the House of Commons.

He will face off against Emily Thornberry, the Shadow Foreign Secretary, who Labour are putting up to represent them.

Backbenchers will also be given the opportunity to ask questions as normal.

It's likely that Brexit will be discussed at length, given that Mr Lidington was a former Europe minister under David Cameron's government and is on-the-record as having made certain statements about the EU.
