A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist died in a crash with three other vehicles in North Yorkshire.

A Citroen C1, VW Jetta, a Ford Ranger pick-up truck and a Honda motorbike collided on the A19 in Selby on Friday.

The motorcyclist, 24, from Goole, East Yorkshire, died at the scene. The section of road, close to Chapel Haddlesey, was closed for seven hours.

The driver of the C1, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

After questioning, the 25-year-old was released on bail to allow further investigations to be carried out.

North Yorkshire Police has appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened at the A19 junction with Fox Lane, to come forward.
