Women in Northern Ireland believe the streets of Northern Ireland are more dangerous now than during the troubles.

The claim is contained in a new survey published by the Women's Centre Regional Partnership.

It shows that many women fear sexual assault and knife attacks and believe general levels of crime to be higher now than during the conflict.

"Overall there was a sense it was safer on the streets during the conflict than now," the WCRP's Margaret Ward said.

Other crimes women were particularly concerned about included attacks on older people and so-called "happy-slappy", the report found.
