A second person has appeared in court charged with the murder of a shopper following an alleged row in a supermarket over queue-jumping.

Kevin Tripp, 57, was punched to the ground in Sainsbury's supermarket in Merton High Street, south London.

Antoinette Richardson, 37, from Sedgehill Road, Catford, was remanded in custody by Sutton magistrates over the attack on Tuesday.

Her partner, Tony Virsami, 37, has also been charged with Mr Tripp's murder.

Mr Tripp, from Colliers Wood, south London, suffered serious head injuries during the incident and died in hospital on Wednesday.

Mr Virsami, also of Sedgehill Road, Catford, appeared before Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Thursday before being remanded in police custody.

The couple are next due to appear at the Old Bailey on 18 September.

Partner's tribute

Meanwhile Mr Tripp's partner, Josephine James, has issued a statement describing how she "never thought this could happen".

"I still cannot believe he has gone," she said.

"My Kev was the sensible one in our relationship, always there with good advice, not just to me but to others.

"Kev was a lovely man, a great dad, a wonderful brother and he will be so, so missed - especially by me, his daughter, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and by all who knew him."
