Armed police have closed off a road in south London amid concerns a man with a gun could be inside a house. A man has been arrested following an 11-hour stand-off with armed police in south London.
Officers headed to Dumbarton Road in Brixton at 06:20 GMT after a man was "seen to be in possession of what looked like a firearm". Officers had spent the day in Dumbarton Road in Brixton, having been alerted at 06:20 GMT to a man "in possession of what looked like a firearm".
Some homes have been evacuated as a precaution. Residents from two blocks of flats were evacuated but have since been allowed home.
The Met said there were no reports that anyone else was inside the house with the man. The man, in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of having an imitation gun at about 17:15 GMT, police said.
