Driver caught sipping JD and coke at 90mph in Derbyshire

A driver "sipping JD and coke" was caught travelling at 90mph (145km/h) on an A-road through a village.

Derbyshire police said the Roads Policing Unit pulled over the motorist on the A52 in Borrowash in the early hours of Friday.

The driver failed a breath test, drugs wipe and was also found in possession of cannabis and cocaine in an act described as "utter stupidity".

The driver was bailed while blood tests are carried out, police said.

In a tweet, the DerbyshireRPU account said: "Driver stopped @ 90 Mph on A52 sipping JD & Coke. Also in possession of Cannabis & Cocaine, failed breath test & drug wipe. Utter stupidity."
