Merseyside Police officer arrested in club drugs probe

A police officer has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug after staff at a nightclub raised concerns about his behaviour.

Merseyside Police said the 33-year-old man, from Southport, was arrested in the early hours of Friday.

The manager of Beach Bar, in Waverley Street, told the Liverpool Echo the man, who appeared intoxicated, had attempted to buy drugs from customers.

He was removed from the club and arrested before being released on bail.
