A car has hit several pedestrians in the Australian city of Melbourne, emergency services have confirmed. One person has died and up to 20 are injured after a car struck pedestrians in central Melbourne, emergency services have confirmed.
Paramedics were at the scene treating people, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said. She could not yet say how many. Some of those being treated have serious injuries, Ambulance Victoria said.
"At this stage it is believed a man driving a vehicle has struck a number of pedestrians," police said. A man has been arrested and "the situation is now contained", police said.
