Donald Trump has arrived at the White House just hours before he is sworn in as the 45th US president. Donald Trump and Barack Obama have arrived at the US Capitol for the inauguration swearing-in ceremony in a dramatic transfer of power.

Hundreds of thousands of supporters and protesters are expected in Washington DC for the event. Dozens of Trump supporters who travelled across the country lined the streets to witness the occasion.
Earlier, about 150 protesters dressed in black marched through Washington, smashing windows and rolling rubbish bins into the street to form blockades.
