Police searched a derelict farm close to the house on the Plumbridge Road after the stolen car was abandoned there, however, nothing was found. Police believe he stayed there as a visitor as well as in other B&Bs.
A PSNI spokesperson said a helicopter was now being used to look for the man. The PSNI said a man handed himself into police at Antrim Road in Belfast. Army experts are examining a car at nearby Hopefield Street.

PSNI Superintendent Hugh Hume said: "Police immediately responded to the call for assistance from the member of the public.
"Shortly after that we found the car that had been stolen from them in the area of the derelict house.
"We know this man had previously stayed in the area on 9 December."
