Women's march: Women hate Donald Trump so much they are even marching against him in Antarctica Women's march: Women hate Donald Trump so much they are even marching against him in Antarctica

Donald Trump is so unpopular that there are even women marching against him in Antarctica.Donald Trump is so unpopular that there are even women marching against him in Antarctica.
The day after the inauguration of a president who bragged about grabbing women by their genitals, thousands will be marching in Washington and in more than 60 countries around the world, to “stand up for human rights, women’s rights and against hate.”The day after the inauguration of a president who bragged about grabbing women by their genitals, thousands will be marching in Washington and in more than 60 countries around the world, to “stand up for human rights, women’s rights and against hate.”
And on an expedition ship somewhere in Antarctica a group of women will be joining the Women’s March movement. And in Paradise Bay, a remote corner of Antarctica whose population normally comprises gentoo penguins, Weddell seals and the occasional humpback whale, a group of at least 30 women and supportive men will be joining the Women’s March movement.  They will march with banners proclaiming 'Penguins for Peace', 'Seals for Science', "Cormorants for Climate', and 'Love from seven continents'.
The march will be taking place on board the ship, not on the Antarctic shore, because, as organiser Linda Zunas has explained, “Due to the environmental sensitivity of the area, we can't leave any marks, trampled messages, etc. The Antarctic march is being organised by Linda Zunas, 42, a data analytics and market research professional from Oakland, California, who told The Independent she had been motivated by Donald Trump’s apparent intention to reverse the environmental policies of Barack Obama.
“We welcome signs and hats,” wrote Ms Zunas, in an advance notice posted on the internet. “Ideas: ‘Penguins for Peace’,  “I set it up because I wanted to participate in the Women’s March,” she said. “I spent a month after the election mourning the impending damage to the earth that will be done. I felt like I needed to do something to be part of the global movement.”
"‘Cormorants for Climate’ Describing the protesters as "an international group of eco-minded visitors" to Antarctica, Ms Zunas said: "They range in age from 24 to 87, male and female, from over six countries."
"‘Seals for Science’ Because of the environmental sensitivity of the area, she explained, "The actual marching will be short as we have to limit our footprint on land."
"‘Women for Earth’.” The shortness of the march, however, would be compensated for by the uniqueness of the spectators.
Ms Zunas gave the location of the march as Neko Harbour, an Antarctic inlet on the west coast of Graham Land whose population consists of about 250 Gentoo penguins, a few Weddell seals and the occasional visiting humpback whale. "We hope to have gentoo penguins in the background of our march," said Ms Zunas.
Whether the march actually takes place in Neko Harbour, however, remains to be seen, because Ms Zunas wrote that she couldn’t be sure of exactly where the ship would be when she and her fellow demonstrators started marching round the deck.
Describing the participants as “an international group of eco-minded visitors on an expedition ship to Antarctica”, Ms Zunas added: “We can't invite the public, but welcome all ship-board guests and staff to join us.” “We are not discussing politics at all,” she added, “But you may infer our opinions based on our choice of day and topic.”
Ms Zunas, thought to be from Oakland, California, describes herself on her twitter feed as a “data geek who loves baseball, good wine and travelling the world.” Ms Zunas' own twitter feed also suggests she is not a fan of Trump.

Ms Zunas was not immediately available for comment.  Emails from The Independent produced the automated reply: “Hello, I am travelling to the 7th continent and will have limited internet access. Thank you, and I apologize in advance for the delay in responding to your message”.
