UK's Channel 4 News reports London parliament attacker is known ‘hate-preacher’ Abu Izzadeen UK's Channel 4 News admits "doubt" over its claim London attacker is known ‘hate-preacher’
(35 minutes later)
The man who launched a terrorist attack on the UK Parliament has been named by Britain's Channel 4 News as British-born Abu Izzadeen, a known “hate-preacher” and a vocal supporter of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). Britain's Channel 4 News says there is now "doubt" over its report naming a known “hate-preacher” as the man behind an attack on parliament in London.
Izzadeen who was born Trevor Brooks in Hackney London, has been described as a hate-preacher after serving as a spokesman for the Al Ghurabaa group - an organization banned by the Terrorism Act 2006. Channel 4 claimed Abu Izzadeen also known as Trevor Brooks from Hackney in London was the suspect.
He did time in jail for terror related offenses, including “inciting others to commit acts of terrorism overseas” and funding terror groups. He was released in May 2009. Claims soon followed that he is in fact currently serving time in jail.
His Twitter account was suspended a few hours after the attack when suspicions arose that he might be the perpetrator.
Izzadeen's solicitor told RT his client was still in jail and could not have been the attacker.
Reporters from the public channel have also since backtracked, adding that Izzadeen's brother confirmed the Islamist's permanence in prison.
