Man struck by rock in Williamson Park, Lancaster 'critical'

A man is critically ill in hospital after apparently being struck by a falling rock in a park.

The 50-year-old man was with his family near the duck pond in Williamson Park, Lancaster when it happened, at about 18:00 BST on Saturday.

Police said he suffered a head injury and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Lancaster City Council, which runs the park, said it was working with police to investigate exactly what happened.
