Manassas to refund local businesses a total of $850,000 in overpaid taxes
Version 0 of 1. The city of Manassas says it will return a total of $850,000 in business property taxes that were overpaid by about 1,500 local businesses during the past three years. Officials said that, because of a clerical error, the city’s business personal property tax rate levied the wrong amount for inventory and other items that are not real estate, which falls under a different tax category. The city will send refund checks over the next few months to businesses that paid the incorrect rate, or it will apply a tax credit to business owners who are delinquent on other taxes, officials said. |
