Eight windows were shattered during the early morning attack on the bar at Main Street in Rasharkin. The remains of the petrol bomb were discovered outside the building at about 0800 BST on Friday. Police have said a motive for the attack has not yet been established. They have appealed for anybody with information about it to contact them. The attack has been condemned by assembly members for the area. The DUP's Mervy Storey said it was "a sinister attempt to heighten tensions in the village ahead of the twelfth of July parade. "This attack will be quite rightly condemned without a moment's hesitation by all right thinking people." Sinn Féin's Daithà McKay said: "A lot of work is happening to try and prevent any trouble at Saturday's parade. "Historically, there would also have been a protest but this year it was not taking place; this attack could have far reaching implications for Saturday." |
