| Zach Leeks lives a few minutes from the tower. He was woken at 06:00 by a friend concerned for his safety. | |
| He told Radio 5live: "I went into the garden and there was just foam and ash and charred remains all over the garden. I just put some shoes on and went and did as much as I could. | |

| "It's a lot to take in. It's very emotional. It was very silent down here. People were in shock. I'm still shaking here now. | |

| A panicked parent was seen throwing her children from a window in the block shortly after 02:00, one witness said. | |
