Version 0 of 1.

Prince George’s County police are looking for three men who tried to steal an ATM by wrapping a chain around the machine and tying the other end to a van and then driving away in an attempt to yank it from the ground.

The attempted theft occurred about 3:15 a.m. Monday in the 5000 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights, police said.

In video police released from a gas station surveillance camera, two men are seen wrapping the chain around the ATM before another person pulls away in a white box van. The chain damages the top of the machine before the van jolts to a stop, the video shows. The van backs up and the men try two more times. But each time, the base of the ATM doesn’t budge and the money inside remains secure.

After about two more minutes, the men give up, pile into the van and drive away.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about this case to call 1-866-411-TIPS.
