Version 0 of 1.

English ignorance of Scotland is damaging the union, according to the UK Conservative leader David Cameron.

The warning is contained in a speech setting out Mr Cameron's approach to Scottish affairs, which he will deliver in Glasgow.

He wants Scotland to remain part of the UK, but says unionists have to develop better arguments against independence.

Labour warns of the economic costs of separation but Mr Cameron cautions that Scotland cannot be cowed by fear.

He believes English ignorance of Scots and Scotland are almost more damaging to the union.

The UK Tory leader is expected to call for a change in attitudes.

He wants relationships between England and Scotland to be based on equality and respect.
