Ambulance taken from near hospital in Prince George’s
Version 0 of 1. People who jump into a fire department ambulance and drive off are probably not intending to set themselves up as providers of medical services. But there was speculation on Tuesday about just what the motivation was when a Prince George’s county fire department ambulance was taken from near a hospital. A fire department transport unit was taken from an ambulance bay at Prince George’s Hospital Center in the Cheverly area , said Mark E. Brady, the fire department spokesman. He said it was recovered nearby shortly afterward. It was found near a 7-Eleven store on Arbor Street, Brady said. The store is also in Cheverly, and about two miles from the hospital. Amateur detectives posted theories online. They noted that Tuesday’s date, July 11, which can be written 7-11, is the day that the convenience store chain has designated as 7-Eleven Day. In honor of the day, the chain said it was giving away free small slurpees. Online posts facetiously suggested that was why the ambulance was driven off. Brady said someone had been taken into custody in connection with what he said was the stolen ambulance. Despite the slurpee speculation, no motive was disclosed. |
