On June 14, according to prosecutors, Ready pulled up in his car next to a black man at a traffic light on Jefferson Davis Highway. He motioned for the man to roll down his window, then used a racial slur. When the victim rolled up his window and pulled into the Potomac Yard parking lot, Ready followed him. He parked, got a baseball bat out of his trunk and tried to hit the black man’s car.
