Dutch police have cordoned off a building in the city of Hilversum, where a man with a knife has taken an employee hostage, Dutch broadcaster NPO reports. On Thursday morning, there was reportedly an altercation outside the building. Shortly afterwards police arrived and cordoned off the building. They soon confirmed that there was a hostage situation in the building, but it was successfully resolved through negotiation, Dutch news agency ANP reports.
The situation apparently follows an altercation outside of the building earlier in the morning, which may have involved the same two individuals.  Dutch broadcaster NPS said the woman was freed and then examined by medics, who confirmed that she had not been harmed.
