Spain attacks: Italian man died in front of wife and children in Las Ramblas Spain attacks: American named as latest Las Ramblas victim
(about 2 hours later)
An Italian man was holding the hand of his five-year-old son moments before he was killed in the terror attack in Las Ramblas, it has emerged. An American man has been the latest victim of the Barcelona terror attacks to be named. The family of Jared Tucker, 42, from Walnut Creek, California, said that he was among the 13 people killed when a van ploughed into crowds in the centre of the city.
Bruno Gulotta, 35, was named on Friday as one of 13 people who died when a van ploughed into crowds on the boulevard in Barcelona. Another person injured in a separate attack in the Catalan seaside town of Cambrils was also confirmed dead on Friday morning. He had left his wife for a moment, shortly before the attack started. The couple, on a grand tour of Europe to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, had been enjoying drinks on a pavement cafe on Las Ramblas.
Gulotta died on the street in front of his son Alessandro and wife, Martina, Italian media reported. “Next thing I know there’s screaming, yelling,” his wife Heidi Nunes, 40, had told NBC News after she failed to find her husband after the attack. “I got pushed inside the souvenir kiosk and stayed there hiding while everybody kept running by, screaming.”
On Friday night his family said that Nunes had identified his body at the morgue. His father, Daniel Tucker, who worked with his son in the family’s pool business, told the Daily News of New York: “It’s just something we really just don’t understand. I don’t know what else to say.”
