A rescue mission has been launched after the guided-missile destroyer USS John S McCain was damaged after colliding with an oil tanker off the coast of Singapore. The US ship is named after the father of Arizona senator John McCain, who tweeted that he was praying for the crew. “In addition to tug boats out of Singapore, the republic of Singapore navy ship RSS Gallant, RSN helicopters and police coast guard vessel Basking Shark are currently in the area to render assistance,” it said.
