Man dies in Birmingham shooting Shop worker dies after shooting
(1 day later)
A man has been fatally injured in the latest outbreak of violence in an area of Birmingham. A gunman walked into a shop and shot dead a 24-year-old worker in the latest violent attack in Birmingham.
Police were called to Villa Road in Lozells on Wednesday evening following reports of a shooting. Police said they were not ruling out linking Wednesday evening's shooting at a convenience store in Villa Road, Lozells, to others in the area.
The man, believed to be in his early 20s, died in hospital, a police spokeswoman said. A post-mortem examination will be carried out. Mohammed Busharat died after one shot was fired by the gunman, who may have been accompanied by another male.
Roads in the area were sealed off as teams of police officers carried out forensic investigations. It is thought he is the younger brother of Mohammed Sabir who was shot dead on Lozells Road in 2003.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting, at about 2040 GMT, is asked to contact police. A spokesman for West Midlands Police said they are open to any motive and now studying CCTV footage.
The incident follows the death of Meshack Tesfa Bernard-Brown, who was shot on 13 November in nearby Newtown. Mr Busharat was pronounced dead in hospital.
Police cordoned off the scene after being called at about 2040 GMT and are carrying out house-to-house inquiries.
