(about 4 hours later)
Counter-terror police are investigating after two police officers were injured while arresting a man with a knife outside Buckingham Palace. A man arrested outside Buckingham Palace on Friday night was brandishing a 4ft sword as he repeatedly shouted "Allahu Akbar", police say.
Officers saw a "large bladed weapon" in the man's car when it stopped near the palace on Friday evening. Dean Haydon, head of counter-terrorism at Scotland Yard, said the man drove at a police vehicle before stopping and being confronted by three officers.
As they arrested him, both men suffered minor arm injuries, police said. CS gas was used to restrain the 26-year-old, from the Luton area, who is now in custody.
The 26-year-old man was also treated for minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assault, and under the Terrorism Act. The three officers were treated for minor injuries.

The two officers and the suspect have been discharged from hospital. The suspect was taken to a central London police station for questioning.
Enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing, police added, and there was still a police cordon at the scene.
